Problem for November 6, 2009

When solving an multistep equation, does the order in which you use properties of equality matter? Take the equation : 2b - 17 = 49 We have discussed using the addition Property of Equality first and then the division Property of Equality to eventually isloate the variable. Would the result be the same if we were to use the properties in the reverse order? Show all your work to support your answer.
